Tehuti Networks

Tehuti Networks develops and markets network servers targeting customers in need of gigabit and above network solutions. Tehuti’s Network Traffic Accelerator (NTA), a low cost and high performance system on a chip, diverts the processing power from TCP/IP processing to application processing power resulting in network servers with over 20 times more processing power. The NTA is the only TCP offload solution that enables an OS independent implementation mode and can fit in open environments. Tehuti Networks’ NTA has a fast time-to-market and the highest flexibility due to its easy integration path.

F.D. Cardio Ltd.

F.D. Cardio invented in a unique technology platform to facilitate catheter use for interventional cardiology, interventional neurology and others, with pushing force and maneuverability capabilities in the front distal therapeutic part of the catheter.

The new delivery system will permit surgeons to reach and to treat currently unreachable blood vessel lesions/sites.

The advantage of the F.D over the existing technologies is due to the fact that while in all the existing delivery systems pushing force applied to the rear end of the catheter by the surgeon, from outside of the patient’s body and need to be transferred over 120 cm, in the novel F.D. technology the catheter has a ‘front drive’ mechanism.

Feasibility was proved in animal trials, while human clinical trials are scheduled towards the end of 2004.

Israel's leading technological incubator The Technological Incubator was founded by the Technion Research and Development Foundation Ltd., (TRDF) and since May 2003 it is owned by four major venture capital funds, Vertex, Vitalife, Shalom & ProSeed along with the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

ProSeed has played a major role in the entrepreneurial beginnings and the ongoing development of the incubator and currently provides technical and administrative support to several start up companies associated with the Technion Incubator.

GeneGrafts

is a biotechnology company developing unique therapy for atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common cardiac arrhythmia affecting millions of people worldwide. Conventional therapy for AF is based on medications with significant side effects. GeneGrafts is developing a transkaryotic approach using autologous (extracted from the patient) genetically modified cells that are delivered to the patient’s heart by catheterization. The treatment is localized and involves a single procedure.

Dar Engines
The DAR RICE (Rotary Internal Combustion Engine) has been designed as a displacement rotary internal combustion engine that combines new features including the use of novel ceramic materials, high R.P.M. engine, high compression ratio and avoidance of mechanical friction within the combustion chamber.
The DAR Engine is exceptionally suited to use Diesel fuel, due to the high compression ratio that it develops. These advantages in engine performance parameters will make the DAR Engine a serious contender in a wide range of IC engines end uses.

Image In - Rigid disposable endoscopes

The project is establishing a line of rigid disposable endoscopes; the initial product is disposable colonoscopy with future expansion to other types of endoscopes such as gastro scope and bronchoscope. The innovative colonoscopy should enable normal colon-scope tests in addition to taking biopsies and removal of polyps. In the year 2002 1.4 Million Americans have been examined with using Colonoscopy. A 150,000 cases revealed cancer in their colon. The projected figures are 5 million procedures worldwide with a $400 million market size.

Status: Established March 2004. Currently completing prototype.

Regentis Biomaterials, Ltd.

Regentis Biomaterials, Ltd. is a medical material development company that is focused on commercializing its patent-applied Gelrin Platform Technology for bone, spine and cartilage repair. The Gelrin technology is based on a biosynthetic hybrid hydrogel comprised of a biological backbone and synthetic cross-links. The biological domains in the material give Gelrin excellent healing properties, while the synthetic cross-links provide the material superior physical characteristics. The biodegradation of Gelrin is fully controllable and enables precise regulation over the ingrowth kinetics and healing properties. The ability to form Gelrin in-situ at the site of the defect provides the possibility of using it with minimally invasive surgical procedures. While other materials degrade rapidly or leach out of the injury site prematurely, Gelrin remains anchored during the entire healing process. The cartilage regeneration market value is expected to reach $1.6B in annual sales by 2006 with an annual growth rate of 11%.

Holographic Mass Storage Media – Matteris Ltd.

Matteris is developing a novel, removable, high speed - high capacity Holographic Storage System (holographic media and a recording/reading driver) for the enterprise archive and backup market.

The Holographic Storage reaches high capacity by utilizing the volume instead of the surface of the medium. Using NST’s Holographic Storage Technology, CD-ROM sized media can store Terabytes (=1000Gigabytes) instead of a maximum of 27GB as in Sony’s blue-ray DVD.
For these huge capacities, there is a need of high speed data transfer, or it will take days to back up a system. By writing in parallel millions of bits grouped in holograms (a hologram is a picture of 1000 x 1000 bits each), at the rate of every millisecond (1/1000 of a second), the Holographic Storage system is reaching writing/reading speeds of Gigabits/sec.

Status: Started operations November 2004
